The 9 Things Your Parents Teach You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. The average item level is listed on the character sheet.
The level of an item upgrading can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an Best item upgrade's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.
The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.
However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl since the size of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.
Upgrades to an Best item upgrader can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.
All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the luck of the item up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
The luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by 5%.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item upgrader (ezproxy.cityu.edu.hk) CORE client config.
