Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved in a variety of ways through the use of upgrade components or by increasing the rarity or mark level. Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to be unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add an extra benefit. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who are taking many hits from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, including mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Leveling
