Upgrading gear increases its base stats and sometimes increases its other features. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the number of random augmentations applied.
The most powerful racial Shield Razortail for instance, is often upgraded to increase its lightning absorption capabilities in PvP or add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more tradable than the perfect non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens let you reroll a purchased item, like a weapon, armor or ring. The item is replaced with another Best item upgrader of the same type and comes with different benefits. Reroll tokens can be an economical method of upgrading equipment. They don't preserve the original equipment's condition, and any resources wasted will not be refunded.
Survivors may acquire reroll tokens through several means such as the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures.
