Path of Exile Item Upgrades

item upgrade Upgrades (Maps.Google.Ae) are a common and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item upgrader mod that they are connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The ability to absorb damage of a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. For example, some upgrades will give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item upgrader kit can be given, as illustrated below.

A few upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic which is identified by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 because the increase in defense is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can improve the damage that is caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by doing side quests, or taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrading will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater chance of giving you the highest level of benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gem is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ according to the tier that the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.

All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain these. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without destroying the original. However you can only swap out the jewels in an equipment piece only once.

It is typical to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can provide your hero with many small, but beneficial, advantages. They are available in the start-up area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket players will be able to unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the lack of a strong team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by the hero's optimal stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Also, consider items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can discover a variety of other items in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. You can see them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
